Okapi Experience

Feed our okapi, an elusive herbivore, specially prepared browse in this amazing experience! Join our okapi experts for feeding time with the ‘forest giraffe’, and find out how they earned this interesting nickname.

You’ll get up close and watch our okapi use their prehensile tongue, just like a monkey uses its tail! You’ll learn all about the okapi from your dedicated keeper, including our work in the field to conserve this endangered species. Don’t forget to ask any questions you have too.

At the end of your Experience, you’ll leave with an exclusive gift, a personalised certificate and memories to last a lifetime!

Your Experience:

Will last approximately 45 minutes with 20 minutes spent feeding the okapi.

Booking the Okapi Experience includes zoo admission for the participant only.
This Experience is available for adults, and children over the age of 12 years old. Children between the ages of 12 – 15 must be accompanied by a spectating adult.
Regrettably certain guests will be unable to take part including people with relevant phobias or known allergies; and immunocompromised individuals.
While every effort is made to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality and health and safety this cannot always be achieved – please contact Chester Zoo before purchasing.
