Komodo dragon Experience

This incredible experience will bring you closer to the world’s LARGEST living lizard than ever before!

Enter a tropical habitat, and come face to face with this HUGE venomous lizard! You’ll be left with incredible memories that will last a lifetime!

This unique experience will take you behind the scenes of our Dragons in Danger habitat, helping our keepers to create scent trails and other forms of enrichment like hiding or scattering food! You’ll also help the keepers feed some of the other animals that can be found in this habitat too.

You’ll also have the opportunity to ask our animal experts any questions you may have about this impressive carnivore, and the incredible work our teams are doing to protect this species from extinction.

Your experience:

Will last about 60 minutes. Approximately 30 minutes spent with the animals.
Lay scent trails and other forms of enrichment like hiding or scattering food. Then watch the komodo dragon and discuss its behaviour. Our keepers may also need help with weighing or target training.
Get up close and help our keepers feed the tortoises or lizards.
Take the opportunity to learn about these incredible animals and ask our keepers any questions you have.

Experience includes zoo admission for the participant only.
The Experience is available for adults and children aged 12 years old and over.
As this experience takes place behind the scenes it is not suitable for spectators to come along and watch you take part.
The participant will need to be comfortable with a warm, humid environment and handling Komodo dragon food items (such as fish, eggs, small carcasses).
Regrettably certain guests will be unable to take part including people with relevant phobias or known allergies; and immunocompromised individuals.
Whilst every effort is made to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality and health and safety this cannot always be achieved – contact Chester Zoo before purchasing.
