Butterfly & Bug Experience 2023

Get closer than ever to some of the smaller species found at Chester Zoo. Our precious butterflies and bugs will leave you all a flutter, as you discover more about these incredible species, get hands on and help our keepers as well as spend time with our animal experts. 

You’ll also have the opportunity to ask our animal experts any questions you may have about this impressive animal and the incredible work of our keepers.

By buying this gift, not only will it be an experience to remember but you will also be contributing to our conservation work both here and around the world helping to save wildlife from extinction – thank you!

Your experience:

  • Will last approximately 45 minutes with approximately 30 minutes spent with the animals. 
  • The chance to get up close and personal to some of our amazing bug species and butterflies. Go behind the scenes and inside their habitat in The Butterfly House and hold some of these amazing species. 
  • The opportunity to learn about these animals and ask our keepers any questions you may have.
  • Exclusive gift and experience certificate.
  • Zoo admission.

Terms and conditions:

  • Experience includes admission for the participant only. An accompanying adult must pay admission which will need to be purchased separately, or have a valid membership.
  • The experience is available for adults and children over the age of 5 years old; however children between the ages of 5 to 15 years old must be accompanied into the zoo by a spectating parent or guardian paying normal zoo admission (1 adult per 1 child).
  • Please ensure you bring a bottle of water with you, which can be filled up in Expedition HQ. The Butterfly & Bug habitat is warm. 
  • Regrettably certain guests will be unable to take part including people with relevant phobias or known allergies; and immunocompromised individuals. 
  • Whilst every effort is made to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality and health and safety this cannot always be achieved – contact us before purchasing.
